An Enlightening Afternoon

I was definitely feelin' the love of nature and energy today. I adventured to DeLuz to find a guy who had much dead wood to share. His considerable pile was on top of a hill with views I couldn't stop appreciating. The ride there was a work of art all its own. Trees lit up with golden sun, green hills, whispering willows, and a mile of off-roading that had the Jeep bouncing and laughing (it doesn't get to go off road much). I paid my $20 (what a bargain for such a delightful afternoon!) and The Wood Man left me alone up there with my thoughts as I stacked logs on my folded-down seats. What came to mind was:

Before enlightenment: chop wood, carry water.
After enlightenment: carry wood, drink water!

That is one ENORMOUS cactus!
YAY for firewood all stacked and ready for cozy evenings!

Yea for free logs! I take it the 4 wheel drive ORV type of vehicle is the only type that can make it to the spot of the freebie kindling? Man, I'm like really wishing for a fireplace now. I imagine curling up on the sofa under my magic blanket with a mug of peppermint tea in my (super bad cliche warning) mug that has candy canes painted on it and just watching the crackling orange, yellow and blue flames with (even bigger bad cliche warning) Christmas music playing in the background. I'm thinking some kind of jazz sax or piano/flute instrumental vibe.

I love this time of year :-)

haha :) Bring on the cliché man! I plan to do exactly that on Christmas! Only thing missing will be snow! (Thank goodness!)

The wood wasn't free, but at $20 it might as well have been. I wouldn't say 4WD vehicles are the ONLY ones that could make it out there, but I don't think I'd be driving a Mercedes to get to his place! LOL There was only one time I really stopped to consider putting the Jeep in 4WD, then we made it up the hill without it anyway. Lots of fun. :)

Thanks! I'm almost through all that wood. Called the guy to see if I could come back out for more and he said the road was washed out in the recent rains. I think he forgot Jeeps live for that kind of thing!
